Hello everyone!
Some days just feel good! Yes, it’s still Winter (+1C the other night. Warmest of 2009 so far!) and lots of snow on the ground. Looking back over our 2.5 years of Alpaca shepherding, their care and shearing I have to say this sort of feedback (received with a repeat purchase from a satisfied customer) makes me feel like we are on the right track:
“…these are bar none the best socks I have ever owned including ones I knit myself!...” My order is for 8 more pair.
B. Griffiths, Prince George, BC
There must be more happy owners of our Alpaca socks out there?! So we welcome your testimonials. And, please indicate if we may use your name or not. Currently we have significant
Heather Brown stock on hand. It would be a
good time to order for this or next winter.
So what’s in store for Kakwa Ecovillage this year? Or the planet for that matter? As for the Ecovillage following a Findhorn tradition, the Angel the Universe chose for us in 2009 is
“Inspiration.” We hope you will join us in creating inspiration at Kakwa Ecovillage in 2009!
Several members are expected to arrive in the Spring/Summer as part of their longer term commitment to contribute to the project. Workshops being proposed include:
a) Strawbale retrofit to the bunkhouse b) Birding in the Robson Valley, c) DIY Photovoltaic Panel Construction and a d) Findhorn Style Cooking Class. Your comments or identified degrees of excitement for these workshop proposals are appreciated. Woofers (willing workers on organic farms) are beginning to make their reservations for Spring/Summer. It would be wonderful to have a gathering for all our members and supporters one weekend in May…sunny, green and bug-less!
Maybe you should plant that garden this year you’ve been thinking about? The Earth blesses us with so many vegetables that are soooo easy to grow: potatoes, lettuce, and carrots come to mind. If you are in a somewhat warmer climate tomatoes can’t be overlooked. However, if you’d really rather garden with other like-minded folks you should plan to stop by for a visit once Spring arrives. Maybe consider a Supporting Membership? Who knows you might even like it here and decide to stay…
We hope to continue the Ecovillage Radio show in 2009
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Ecovillage-Radio . It has been so much fun, as well as educational for us and we hope our audience. We have done 11 shows now. There have been a total of 600+ listeners to date! The goal for 2009 is to interview residents at as many Ecovillages as possible and to continue to post on the internet to inspire everyone.
As for the planet…we are here in the wonderful and peaceful Robson Valley. We realize many are not as fortunate as ourselves. We can cut wood to stay warm, grow our own food , and build economical shelter. Our friends and neighbors are friendly and can be counted on if we get in a bind…as they can count on us. 2009 for N. America in particular is looking at what may be difficult times for many. The equity in the stock market and homes has been dramatically reduced in the US and Canada. Many of those looking forward to comfort in their retirement or increased security for their families are wondering what next? I believe we create our own futures. So what were you hoping for in your life for the next 5-10 years? If you are looking for a place to develop real equity and security that is unlikely to disappear why not consider the Ecovillage this year? Or, if we are just too distant geographically consider Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage as described on our Ecovillage Radio program… or other similar opportunities. In my opinion the time to create the future you dream about is now!
And, thanks for all the positive thoughts you beam in our direction!
