If you are friends with someone a lot older or younger than you decribe that relationship
I've always enjoyed the company of older people, as I've long recognized their traditional value as 'elders'/keepers of the flames. Here in Guam, the people I gravitate towards the most are grassroots community leaders/artists/cultural preservation activists (usually packaged in the same person); some are of my age cohort, some are a little older and a few are a lot older. Their company, when they're having a good day, almost always brightens my day. Most teens and younger adults, here, are drawn into Consumerism. The more politically and historically aware - who actually think, care and speak out about the impacts of the pending U.S. military build-up on Guam, are the bunch that I find interesting. Talking with them is reassuring; their numbers are small, but their voices are not. Kids everywhere are a delight, especially at the developmental stage when they are 'oh wow' sponges, not embarrassed to show enthusiasm about all that is new or important to them.
