One of my dear friends and mentors is local "Dunsterite" Pete Amyoony, who will be 69 on Oct. 20, 2009. I met him while WWOOFing in the Robson Valley (Dunster) for 3 months in the summer of 2008. I respect and admire his patience, his skills and his way of life. He teaches me about gardening and agriculture, and I'm more than happy to lend my hands to help work his land. While we work, laugh and sip tea together, we share ideas about the life, the universe and everything in it. He is truly one of the most influential people I have ever met.

Skills you can bring to a community

I have WWOOFed in various parts of BC so have a range of gardening and animal husbandry skills. I love working with my hands, so would be more than willing to help with building/construction projects, as long as I get to dig in the gardens every now and then. I am also a piano teacher, have taught yoga and am currently learning to knit/crochet. In terms of actual "skills" that required an education to obtain, I have a certificate in Organic Agriculture from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, as well as a strong business/marketing background (BComm) and accounting/finance/audittax skills (I'm a Chartered Accountant). I'm currently working in the field of environmental sustainability for Alberta Health Services so I also have skills and knowledge in terms of environmentally responsible business and health practices.

I am a classically trained pianist, and music has always been a big part of my life. Mostly, I find myself listening to chill ambient music, folk/indie, reggae, world music and punk/rock/metal.

After attending the Robson Valley Music Festival for the past 2 years (and I hope to keep returning every year!), I must say I am definitely a fan of Seth, Shara and the local Dunster band Mamaguroove. "Resistance is Fertile!" :)
