Willie works in downtown Sherman. His gray hair and portly frame, graying but twinkling eyes, and wise gentle smile reflect a life of experience so much deeper than the average person one might pass on any street in the world. He was a child during the great depression, a school boy during World War 2, a truck driving blues bar boppin truck driver in the 50's and 60's, with many a tale of the changes he has seen, the hitch hikers he gave rides to, the loves of his life and the common sense he knitted together while experiencing it all. Now he sits quietly waiting for the next person to step up and get on his shoe shine thrown, to share a chat and get a shimmer on their shoes. Our friendship is one of sharing a common perspective on what was, what is , what could have been, and what it just might be for those who walk into tomorrow.
