- there is a former school teach that works with me in the garden department of a local retail store. he is significantly older then me, but i find him to be a valuable source of wisdom and someone i can talk to. not quite like a father figure, but more like a much older brother.

actually the idea intrigues me quite a bit, the rampant consumerism that i see on a daily basis with no thought about, and even a certain mockingly ridiculous attitude that most people have for the green mentality really bugs me.
i've long been interested in a self sustaining life style, in fact when i was about 16 i drew up some amature plans of a green styled house.
basically it was a house that had dirt on the roof, and was barely above ground at the roof level, the front would have been slanted windows with a small crop of vegetables growing.
i really had it quite planned out, with solar chimneys to facilitate the natural cooling effects of the ground, solar panels, i could go on and on..
Ogden is a long way from BC... any thoughts about exploring living in community?
