Hey Russ, I'm wondering about Investment shares. As a supporting member can I buy Investment shares? If so, is there a set price per share or can it be any amount? What is the return and how does it work? Can I trade my investment share in for a share in the community?

Hi Eric,
Good Questions!
1) As a supporting member can I buy Investment shares?
Yes.
2) If so, is there a set price per share or can it be any amount?
$100.
3) What is the return and how does it work?
The return is set (at least) annually at the AGM, annual general meeting. Unlike bonds/notes, investment share returns are based on the excess profits of the Coop's businesses after expenses. There may not be any returns in the early years of the Coop, like any start-up, as the money generated is needed to grow/maintain the business. The details of this are set out in 2 separate documents: a) the Rules of the Coop and b) the Subscription Agreement.
4)Can I trade my investment share in for a share in the community?
Yes, we have agreed investment shares can be traded/exchanged for membership shares upon membership approval with the understanding the dollar value of the exchange must be equal.
